G1 vs G1 EDU: configuration before capability

Shared dimensions do not make standard G1 and G1 EDU interchangeable; joints, hands and development interfaces need configuration-level checking.

Published height
  • Unitree G11320 mm
  • Unitree G1 EDU1320 mm

Manufacturer figures; approximate values and configuration differences apply. Size is not a performance rating.

Same envelope, different configurations

Unitree lists both at 1,320 mm standing height. Standard G1 has 23 degrees of freedom and weighs about 35 kg with battery; EDU spans 23–43 degrees of freedom and is listed at about 35 kg or more.

Development access and hands

The manufacturer SDK table includes a 23-DoF EDU Standard, a 29-DoF Advanced and several hand-equipped Ultimate configurations. EDU therefore does not automatically mean extra joints or included dexterous hands.

Unitree documents DDS or ROS2 access for EDU, while its motion-control computer remains reserved for Unitree software. Developer access should not be described as unrestricted access to every subsystem.

Procurement questions

For custom control research, request written confirmation of interfaces, controller restrictions, hand hardware and simulator files for the quoted EDU configuration. For standard G1, do not assume equivalent interfaces from the shared model name.

Neither the specification table nor demonstration footage establishes application readiness. Ask for a supervised acceptance test, safety procedures, support terms and delivery confirmation; this review does not verify price or stock.
